This easy-to-understand discussion series covers cultural influences, ideas, and times that informed artists’ and architects’ great works throughout history. Beginning with the dramatic Baroque period with its theatrical works in sculpture, painting and architecture, we'll then move through the 18th- and 19th-centuries, overflowing with masterful painters in competing movements. Finally, we'll conclude with the modern art of the 20th-century including Cubist and Pop Art. We'll see how an ever-churning world and new technologies shaped and directed the trajectory of art. All students welcome; there is no required pre-requisite.
