Join Elizabeth Tokoly live online to learn how to create jewelry pieces using only minimal tools and materials. The class will feature four core projects which teach skills and techniques that are easily transferable to other jewelry work. Projects to be made include a rivet bangle bracelet, geometric earrings, forged hoop earrings, and geometric hammered pendants. Featured techniques include: different types of rivets, such as tube, stand, flush, and decorative; and basic plier forming, hammering, and finding. This class is open to beginner and intermediate students.
To participate, students will need to have access to the following materials/tools in their home:
Computer, tablet, or phone with internet and access to Zoom
Metals for projects (copper or sterling silver, your choice):
- rivet bangle bracelets: 14g round wire,16–36 inches
- geometric earrings: 20g round wire, 12–18 inches
- forged hoop earrings: 14g round wire, 6 inches; 20g round wire, 6 inches
- geometric hammered pendant: 18g round wire, 24–36 inches; chain, 16–24 inches
Tools:
- bracelet mandrel, wood dowel, or pipe
- rivet hammer, planishing hammer, or ball peen hammer
- assortment of pliers: round, needle nose, chain nose, etc.
- wire cutter/snip
- small steel block
- hand drill or flex-shaft
- drill bits
- bench pin
