Flush Setting Stones

Flush setting is a technique which involves setting a small, usually round stone flush with the surface of the metal. The stone is held in place by a tiny edge of burnished metal, leaving a clean, unembellished surface. Students will learn how to drill, open up, and prepare metal to set stones flush. Students will also learn about the anatomy of a faceted stone, types and sizes of burs, and the process of stone setting. We will also discuss the process of how to make burnishers.
