Psanky: The Art of Ukrainian Egg Decorating

Learn the art of traditional Ukrainian egg decorating (psanky). In psanky, wax is melted over an open flame in a special tool called a kistka, then applied onto the egg in a design. Rubber bands, stencils, and other tools are also used to assist in applying the wax design. The eggs are then dipped into various colored dyes with wax applied again between colors to create a vibrant pattern. Students will go home with beautifully decorated eggs for good luck in their homes, and to celebrate the Easter season.
