New Beginnings: Wheel Throwing in the Japanese Style (5 weeks)

CourseGraphic
The Japanese approach to wheel-throwing is more methodical than the Western one. From effortless wedging to efficient centering and opening; to raising the wall and shaping the form; to trimming leather-hard clay, students will experience an organic yet methodical approach to the potter’s wheel and work in concert with clay’s natural flow and movement. This course is perfect for beginners or previous throwers who have struggled with their throwing skills. Class size is limited to six so students can receive ample individual attention. Clay and tools are available to purchase at the Art Center.
