Sustainable Weaving: Reusing & Repurposing Cloth

CourseGraphic
In many world traditions (such as sakiori where worn-out kimonos are cut into strips and rewoven into exquisite sashes and accessories) old clothing is upcycled to create beautiful and meaningful new items. Learn to repurpose worn, unused or meaningful clothing by weaving it into unique creations such as runners, cushions, scarves, bags and accessories. Upcycle old T-shirts, party dresses, men’s ties by weaving them into something new. Slow fashion and mindful mending movements have made people more aware of conscious creation and use of materials. By repurposing, you can create a work of beauty, utility and meaning unlike anything you could purchase. Some materials provided.
