Learn to use simple tools and materials to create a low-relief aluminum sculpture using a resin-bonded sand mold. On day one students will be introduced to the tools, materials and techniques of sand-casting sculpture, and work creating a design. On day two students will carve a negative of their designs into a scratch block of resin-bonded sand. Finished scratch blocks will be sent to the foundry at Seward Johnson Atelier to be cast in aluminum, cleaned and patinaed. Once completed, students will be notified when their pieces are ready to be picked up at the Art Center.
