2020 and 2021 are challenging years for everyone, children and parents alike. VACNJ is opening up a new 5 week virtual art therapy class for any individual parent or couple to join. The sessions will be focusing on reducing anxiety and processing stress. Art therapy is a kind of therapy that integrates mental health and human services by using active art-making, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience with licensed professionals who are trained in both therapy and art. One of the main goals of art therapy is to improve people’s well-being.

These are group sessions and will be limited to 10 people. This program is led by Alison Silver, a Creative Arts Therapist who works toward fostering an atmosphere of relaxation, while inspiring communication through creativity. She holds a Master's of Professional Studies in Art Therapy and Creativity Development from Pratt Institute, and attained her ATR-BC (Board Certified Registered Art Therapist) from the ATCB (Art Therapy Credentials Board). She has also accrued training and certifications as a Certified Family Trauma Professional and Trauma Therapist.

Supplies you will need to bring to the zoom meeting for each session: Paper, pencils. If you'd like you can also bring markers or colored pencils or any dry mark making medium that you prefer.
