Wednesday, September 27, 4:45-6:45pm | Every portfolio should reveal the personality of the artist. WIth this mixed media project, students can create a fun collage/drawing of themselves to show who they are and what they are all about. Paint, textured paper, magazines, text, and more will be used to make the student’s silhouette creating a fun explosion of color and personality.

  Instafolio: Go Figure! (ages 13-17) 

Wednesday, October 4, 4:45-6:45pm | Colleges want to know that you can draw the human form. Working from a clothed model, students will create multiple works focusing on both gestures and a fully rendered drawing. We will demonstrate techniques to accurately find proportions of the human form, various styles of gestural drawing, and shading with both graphite and charcoal. Students will learn how to compose several gestural drawings from short poses onto one page, along with a fully rendered drawing from a longer lengthed pose for an acceptable portfolio-quality piece.

Using toned paper as a base, students will layer dry pastels to achieve a textured life-like outdoor nature scene.   Instafolio: Painting with a Purpose (ages 13-17) 

Wednesday, October 18, 4:45-6:45pm | Color is a key element in a strong portfolio, so having a painting to show the student is aware of color theory, value, and brush-handling is a must! Brush up and create a colorful acrylic painting of a fun still life using various techniques such as wet-in-wet, dry brush, and glazes. The instructor will demonstrate various techniques, along with side by side instruction.

  InstaFolio: Putting it in Perspective (ages 13-17) 

Wednesday, October 25, 4:45-6:45 | Depicting spatial illusion is crucial in drawing both structural and organic scenes. This workshop will allow students looking to add a technically pencil-drawn portfolio piece to their body of work. Create a two-point perspective scene following a demonstration given by the instructor. The focus of the class  will be on vanishing points and depicting an outdoor exterior urban space.
