Mondays, 12:30-3pm | Explore ancient Greek and Roman jewelry-making methods. Learn classic loop-in-loop chains and meshes that are fused, not soldered. Fabricate ancient style rings and necklaces. Students will have the option of using either 22k gold or fine silver.

This class will provide students with the techniques and knowledge needed to begin working in either 18k or 22k gold.Simple projects will be fabricated to start and as students progress they will choose projects of their own design to work on. For intermediate to advanced students (good soldering skills are a must.)

Wednesday, 3:30-6pm | Create a jewelry design of your choosing in this class where instruction is personalized and all levels are welcome. This course covers jewelry design with an emphasis on wax carving and construction and takes you from concept to completion. Once your wax model is finished it will be cast into metal such as silver, brass, copper or gold.  Students may also mold their work to create multiples. Wax allows the creation of very fluid, intricate and sculpturally exciting work. Depending on the design, your piece will be finished by soldering, polishing and stone setting. Precious metal clay (PMC) is a fun and versatile material that starts as malleable clay and, after firing, becomes a solid metal piece. This course will introduce jewelers and non-jewelers alike to a variety of techniques to manipulate and decorate their own PMC silver jewelry pieces. Learn to decorate, texture, set stones, polish, and patina using various tools and molds. Students will also be shown how to set, monitor, and fire kilns. All materials provided, including a tool kit which may be purchased from the instructor for those who wish to continue working with PMC independently.
