CourseGraphic Great paintings have a light, effortless quality. If your paintings look overworked and rigid, this class will help you achieve looseness and breath vitality back into your work. We will study paintings that exemplify a loose quality to analyze what makes them so successful. From there we will put into practice techniques that will help you achieve the same qualities in your own work. Techniques covered will include: working with quick sketch and/or paint studies; blocking in images with larger brushes; adjusting and lightening the grip on brushes; economizing brushstrokes and allowing them to remain visible; moving around the painting surface to avoid overworking an area; learning to sacrifice perfectionism and more.
