Explore the use of a variety of GR pottery forms in the studio! Utilizing the slab roller and GR pottery forms, students will be able to create a wide range of pottery shapes that cannot be created on the potter’s wheel. Specific projects will be shown, and demonstrations will include the basics of using the forms, such as adding feet to the bottom of pieces, making and attaching handles, creating surface patterns using slip, marbling techniques in combination with the forms, advanced Nerikomi techniques (a Japanese ceramic art technique using colored clays), and more! Students may utilize the potter’s wheel in combination with the slab roller if desired. Glazing techniques will also be covered.
NOTE: Ceramics tuition fees include: class instruction, use of equipment, and the firings of works produced in class. The only additional material to purchase is clay, which is available at the Front Desk. Optional pottery tools are also available.
