Summer camp at the Art Center is a one-week, hands-on camp that gives middles school and high school students an in-depth studio experience. Designed to empower teen artists by engaging their creativity and building their skills, students are introduced to two forms of artistic expression each week. Small class sizes, grouped by age & experience, enable our instructors to take a deep dive with the students so that they can build technique and grow their individual style
Studio Concentrations for the week of July 23:
Metal Sculpture - Utilizing wire in a variety of gauges, students will create sculptures, focusing first on two-dimensional formats and then graduating to three-dimensional pieces. Student works will explore a variety of subjects such as portraits, animal figures, or nature. Students will also have the opportunity to play with fabrics to add texture and dimension in their sculptures.
Printmaking Techniques - This class will cover plexi-glass etching, mono-printing, and collograph printing techniques. Students will learn about the various tools and styles of printmaking while working on their own original creations.
